2010 is the 75th Anniversary of the Ramblers and throughout the year a number of events will be taking place to mark the occasion. The first of these was a Baton Walk, the idea being that each Ramblers Group carries a baton with them on a walk, starting in early January in the South West and finishing in December in the South East, having ‘passed’ through Scotland, Wales and the nine English regions.

On Saturday, January 27 we at South Cotswold Ramblers held our Baton Walk, meeting at Hill for a 12 mile circular walk along the Severn then back via Ham and the Berkeley Deer Park. Bernard, our secretary, carried the Baton accompanied by twenty other members of the group. Lunch was taken on the green at Ham while some of us paid a visit to the Salutation for further refreshment.
